One of my favorite ways to stock up on holiday and birthday gifts is by signing up for trial offers. Using these offers, I’ve received gourmet coffee, coffeepots, free postage, burn free bakeware, gift cards and more. Once you learn how to do it, you’ll find it’s a great way to get bargain prices and save money.
Here’s how I do it:
1) On any offer site there is a Terms & Conditions link. Be sure to read it before signing up and jot down any necessary information:
-Trial period: 7 days? 30 days?
-Company name, address, phone number, email address
-How to cancel
You can also take a screenshot of the terms by using the “Print Screen” button (located in the upper right of my keyboard). Then open a new word doc and click control+V to paste it.
2) Write down the date you signed up and the deadline for cancellation in your calendar. I always try to cancel at least 2-3 days before the deadline (if it’s a 30 day trial, I’ll cancel 1-2 weeks before deadline).
3) Save all email correspondence from the company.
4) When you cancel, take a screenshot of your request if done by email. Always request written verification of your cancellation. Most of the time, cancellation is by phone and I ask the agent to send me email verification of my cancellation. Be sure to save it.
Enjoy your freebies and deals! You can click on my Trial Offers link and scroll down for a list of my faves. Click one and give it a try. You’ll be suprised how easy (and cheap) it is to get great free stuff!
